The central government will soon initiate tripartite talks involving the Union government, the West Bengal government, and representatives of the Gorkha community.

Darjeeling MP Raju Bista met with Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today. Following the meeting, Mr Bista stated, “Amit Shah assured me that the central government will initiate tripartite talks with the Bengal government and the Gorkha community representatives at the earliest.”

Mr Bista further added, “The Union home minister reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving all issues affecting our region through dialogue, adopting a holistic approach that considers the concerns of all stakeholders.”

Preparations for the continuation of these talks are underway by the ministry of home affairs, with meeting dates to be announced soon.

Notably, Darjeeling MLA Neeraj Zimba, recently elected as Secretary General of the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) on a BJP ticket, had earlier written a detailed letter to the Central government regarding this issue.
